My first digital piece in over a month! I am sorry for being so dead everyone! I know this isn't wolves, but I hope you like it 
Anyway, this is my contest entry for my good friend ~Abwettar. The two themes I choose were "whispers" and "friends". Skip is the whale-like character, who I am totally in love with. And my character is D.J., the weird finned one XD I had a lot of trouble with D.J.'s anatomy, I'll have to work on that in his reference. . . DJ was actually designed by Abwettar, which made it all the better in my opinion
Mini story for the piece: DJ had been lonely that day, sunning himself on the beach and waiting for Skip to come back from his weekly hunt for squid. After staring out at sea for what seemed like hours, DJ saw a fin in the distance, and the occasional tips of two long ears. DJ's head frills moved up in excitement, his friend was finally back! DJ pushed himself up and made his way to the water, his tail dragging in the sand. He went in the water, his fins moving as fast he could get them. Finally, Skip's shape was close, and within seconds, Skip was right below him, smiling up with his big black eyes. DJ put his hand on the Skip's head, and whispered, "I am glad you're back friend."
Regardless, I did a lot of new things with this, including using a tutorial by Griffsnuff as a reference. Obviously, my piece didn't turn out at all like her's, but it gave me new ways of shading, and a great new way to color without lines. I mean, I think the the shading looks great on Skip. DJ was harder to do, since I felt that shading was included with the fins, but I wasn't sure about how to approach them. All in all, I am happy with this piece.
I spent about 5-6 hours on this, and was done on 11 layers in Photoshop Elements 10.
